A homegoing celebration for Mr. Jack R. Lester, Sr. of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 will be held on Saturday, July 16th, 11:00 a.m. at St John Progressive M.B Church, 2504 E. Chipco Ave. Rev. Bartholomew Banks, Sr. pastor, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Jack R. Lester Sr. was born on June 12, 1920 in Houston County, Georgia. We called him, Brother Jack or Red or simply 'my daddy'. He was someone special to everyone he came in contact with. There was no one in the entire world like him. There are so many beautiful things about our dad, he loved God and family. He was a model father and servant to God. He shined so brightly with wisdom and love, and such a special treasure we will never forget what a treasure he's been and we thank God for his friendship, guidance and love. He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice Lester,parents, Robert, Sr., and Bessie Lester; sisters, Theresa Vance, Dura Lester and Lula Hunter, brothers, Lura Lester, Charles Lester and Robert Lester, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories with his children, Curtis Lester (Sheila), Wynell Mitchell (John), Sandra Barr, Johnny Lester, Jack Lester, Jr. (Carol); grandchildren, Erika McNeal (Derrick), Vaun Young, Shon Lester, Jehnae Lester, Javaris Lester, Anthony Lindsey, Jack Lester III, Cheri Williams (Martin), Clytemnestra Anderson (John), Cicely Lester, Chandra Briggs Billy, CaDarren Lester, Christopher Taylor, Tinika Hammond (Kevin), Rodryck Mitchell, Joseph Barr III (Shalandra) Erick Barr (Keisha), Erika Barr; great grandchildren, Iasia Thompson (Kino), William Garrett, Siah Allen, Vandi Anderson, Karlei Anderson, Giovonte' Steed, Martha Williams, Darius Williams, Christopher Deshawn Taylor, Cameron Miller, Jazmine Lester, Billy Ashton Briggs, Christian Briggs, Emauri Barr, Erick Barr, Jr., Destiny Barr, Tristen Barr, Kayden Barr, Kevin Hammond, Jr., Devin Hammond, Kamora Hammond, Joseph Barr IV, Jaadyn Barr, Euriel Culver, Euriah Culver, Madysen Culver, Morgan Culver, London Culver, Jack Lester IV, Nyana Lester, Jolina Lester, Rashad Peters, Jamaal Anderson, Jaron Anderson, Sr., Anthony Lindser, Jr. ;great great grandchildren, Kinden Thompson, Kaliah Anderson, Kamiya Anderson, Jaron Anderson Jr., Amir Anderson, Sophia Anderson and Isabella Anderson; sisters, Corene Newberry and Florene Newberry; Christine Lester and Jean Lester, and a host of nieces and nephews. The visitation will be held at the church on Friday, July 15th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
