Homegoing services for Mr. Jack Napolean Miller, "Mopey" of Tampa who passed away, Saturday, March 16, 2013, will be held Saturday, March 23rd, 12:00 p.m., at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, Apostle Cynthia Ford, officiating with Pastor Carolyn Riggins. The interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Jack N. Miller was born November 4, 1925 in Tampa, Florida to the union of Mike and Mary Harper Miller. He was a decorated World War II veteran, and given 2 bronze stars, a Good Conduct medal and a World War II Victory medal, these medals were awarded to him in 1944 and 1945. Jack met and married Fannie Mae Miller in 1953 and to their union there are 5 children. Jack worked for the city of Tampa for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. He loved playing checkers and dominos at the Blue Note. He had a lot of stamina because he rode the bicycle from Nebraska to 28th Ave. for years. He was a resident of Central Park Village from 1957 to the 80's and later became a resident of West Tampa for over 20 years. He loved his family and friends and will be sadly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Mary and wife, Fannie. He leaves to mourn his passing children, Jack Miller, Jr. and wife, Linda, Larry Miller and wife, Jeffrie and Danny and Roger Miller; a very devoted daughter, Sheila Miller Smith and husband, Thomas; grandchildren, Tapeeka Miller, Tamnara Miller, and friend, Toya Brim, Larry Hodges, Shameka Miller, Chris Ballard, Cameron Miller, Jack Miller III, Jermaine Miller, Larry Miller, Jr., Latisha Miller, Robert Miller, Jarvis Miller, Cherry Gibson, Dontavious Miller, Ratiq (Aisha) Miller, Tabeel Smith and Daniel Miller; great grandchildren, Lorenzo Ashley, Nijae Smith, Temarcus Davis, India Miller, Rashaw Miller, Dakari Miller, Elinas Miller, Tylee and Tyanna Brooks, Jakeriya and Janiya Miller; and a host of other great grandchildren, extended family, Betty and Charles Dean, Riverdale, GA, Gary and Gail Mizell and family, Tampa, FL, Wanda Sathell, Atlanta, GA, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Morgan and family, Lake Wales, FL, Anthony Mizell and family, Atlanta, GA, Roberta Walker, Tampa, FL, Mattie Simmons and family, Tampa, FL, Betty Walker and family, Miami, FL, Bruce Simmons and family, Tampa, FL, Harold Evans, Barbara Jones, James Woodall and wife, Twanda, Gregory Woodall and wife, Paulette, Charlie Thomas, Jr. and wife, Joyce; devoted friends, Robert Perry, Wade Collins and Harold Jackson and Burnette; his adopted family, Alyce and Ivan Knowles, Nassau, Bahamas, Rhonda Arnao, Raymond F. Arnao, Rholiya Aranao and family of Tampa, FL, Mrs. Williard Taylor, Crescent City, Florida; and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, March 22nd from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive guest from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel for the service on Saturday.
