A homegoing service for Mrs. Jacquelyn Patricia Butler 'Jackie' of Tampa, Florida, who departed this life on February 21, 2017 will be held Saturday, March 4th, 2:00 p.m. at New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2511 E. Columbus Dr., Rev. Larry Roundtree II pastor, officiating. The interment will be Florida National Cemetery with her husband Wardell Butler. Jackie was born May 18, 1946 in Tampa, Florida. She attended St. Peter Claver Catholic School and the local public schools of Hillsborough County. She was a graduate of Howard W. Blake High School class of 1965. She continued her education at H.C.C. and U.S.F., where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She was employed with Hillsborough County Schools for 37 years and retired from Sligh Middle School in 2006. Jackie was baptized at the age of 12 years old by Rev. Calhoun, where she served on the Youth's Jr. Usher Board. She was a member for many years, serving on #2 Usher Board up until her departure. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doc and Alice Austin; husband, Wardell Butler; sister, Wanda Austin and grandparents, Walter and Maggie Simon. Jackie leaves to cherish her precious memories with her children, Cornelius Henry and Robbin Henry; step-children, Kolevis (Nookie) Butler and Jeffrey Butler; grandchildren, Leonard (Wootie) Walker, Jr. and Diandra Mitchell of Trenton, NJ; step-grandchildren, Nykia Butler and Jeff Butler, Jr.; great-grandson, Bryan Davis (B.J.) of Trenton, NJ; brother, Leon Austin (Rose); sisters-in-law, Martha Darrigo, Marina Banks (Thomas) and Rosa Austin; nieces, LaShawn Jones (Levester), Sylvia Cotton, Gloria Darrigo (Rheugene) and Talonda Butler; nephews, Rodney Wilds, Keith Butler (Katisha) and Thomas Banks, Jr. (Jessica); step-nephew, Kenneth Higdon; great-nieces, Alexzandria Jones, Brandye, Stacy and Ahkeliah Wilds; Blake High School, class of 1965. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, March 3rd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
