A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Jacquelyn Davis of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017 will be held on Saturday August 12th, 11am at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, 2606 W. Grace Street, Pastor T.D. Leonard, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Jacquelyn M. Davis was born August 24, 1956 in Donalsonville, Georgia to Leroy Hunter, Sr. and Juanita McKenney Hunter. She was educated in Tampa, Florida and graduated from Tampa Bay Technical High School. She was baptized at Mt. Tabor M.B. Church at an early age, and enjoyed singing in the youth choir. Jackie married Norris Davis, Sr. in 1974. She began her career at MetLife and spent over 40 years in the insurance industry retiring from Cigna Insurance company. In addition to her corporate career she was also an entrepreneur as one of the founding owners of Davis Auto Sales and a key member of the executive board. She was extremely devoted to her family and would do any and everything she could for them. She always looked forward to attending and planning family events. She loved gardening and was well traveled throughout the United States and Europe. Jackie was a natural leader in the family and at work. She was good at solving problems and always seemed to come up with just the right answer. She was also a good cook and never missed an episode of 'Survivor', one of her favorite tv shows. Jackie was strong in her faith which kept her going every day from beginning to end. She was preceded in death by her beloved father in-law and mother in-law, Mr. James Davis Sr., and Mrs. Martha Davis. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: husband, Norris Davis, Sr.; daughters, Tamika Davis and Brittany Davis; step-son, Norris Davis, Jr.; parents, Leroy Hunter Sr., and Juanita McKenney Hunter; sisters, Lucian Hunter (Roosevelt), Ida 'Susie' Collier (Dennard); brother, Leroy Hunter Jr. (Cynthia); in-laws, Sylvia Walker (Eddie), April Davis (Emmett), Ronald Davis, Kenocer Donald Davis, and Daryl Davis, all of Tampa and Steven Davis (Debra) of Dallas, Texas; aunts, Ludine Johnson of Georgia, Maime Hunter, Mary Hunter, Eloise Brown, Emma Hunter, Georgia Mae Stringfield, Bonnie Barber, Lavelle Renaye Shaw, and Pinease Nobles (Roy); uncles, Willie Singletary Jr. (Evelyna), Elder Jadie Singletary (Josephine), Sol Singletary (Betty), and Marvin Singletary (Carol), all of Tampa; goddaughter, Shayla 'Noomp' Thomas; dear friends, Rhudine Curry and Julie Jackson, and neighbors, the Peterson, Brown, Hollis and Delafield families and Charlie Diaz and family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday August 11th, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
