James (Pops) Edward Goodson, Sr., was born on August 20, 1953, in Cuthbert, GA. He was the beloved son of the late Grace Paramore and the late Emmit Goodson. He received his high school diploma from Cuthbert High School. James was kind, loving, funny, and always the life of the party. His favorite football team was the Oakland Raiders; he was a diehard fan. Often described as outgoing, caring, loving, funny, he was always hardworking and independent.

He was employed for numerous years as a truck driver for Stone and Foam Creations. His career was marked by hard work. Known to have a nurturing caring spirit, James was a strong man with a heart of gold. He lived every day with a purpose for his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. His fun side made him a joy to be around. He will be remembered as a funny and outgoing man. On Friday, August 27, God had other plans and transitioned James from this earthly life to eternal peace with the Lord.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his brother, Michael Paramore; his sisters, Brenda Richardson and Maxine Goodson.

Loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of: his children, Dorothenia Goodson, James Goodson, Jr. (Shanitra), Sonya Goodson, Jermaine Goodson (Latrecia), Charda Carroll (Roy); longtime companion, Alrese McCrary; 11 grandchildren; brother, Lucious Goodson; sister, Cassandra Paramore; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and special friends.
