Mr. James Leavertis Stevens Jr. affectionately known as Babylee was born August 7, 1943, in Tampa Fl. James Leavertis was the older of the 1st set of twins born to his mother the late Mrs. Beatrice Stevens Lasing and his father the late Mr. James L. Stevens Sr.
He attended public schools in Hillsborough County. He played football on the varsity team at Blake High School and went on to play Semi-Professional Football in St. Petersburg FL.
As a young man, he loaded up his 1968, white with black ragtop and red interior, Oldsmobile 98, and a few friends and headed to California to pursue his dreams. After living a number of years in California he moved to Chicago, where he met his wife Patricia affectionately known as Cookie.
After a few years' stay in Chicago, he relocated to Hollywood FL. James' love for cars set the stage for him to own and operate Steves Auto Service Center. Where he serviced, repaired, and refurbished Jaguars, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Yachts, and all Foreign and Exotic Cars.
James loved his wife, his children, and his family and when the opportunity presented itself he would come home to Tampa. He made sure he visited each one of his brothers and sisters' homes and he enjoyed family gatherings where we would talk for hours.
