Jayson was born into a military family in Baltimore, Maryland in 1983.

Jayson attended elementary through high school in Tallahassee until he transferred to Blake High School in Tampa, Florida where he graduated in 2001. He pursued college studies at Hillsborough Community College and completed Barber School at Lively Technical College. Jaysons personality and strength in sales allowed him to excel in customer service and marketing. The role that meant the most to Jayson was being a dad and pop-pop. He was so proud of all of his family, but especially his sons, and grandson, and was a father figure to his nephew.

Jayson leaves to cherish his memory his parents, James Sheffield and Carrie Sheffield Williams; sons, Jayson, Jr. (Rosa), Tyler, and Avery Sheffield; brothers, James A. Sheffield (Sabriya) and Daniel Sheffield (MeShell); sister, Carmen Sheffield; grandson, Jaxon Sheffield; nephews, Jaydan Harley, Christopher Sheffield, Aubrey Vaughn, Anthony Champagne, and James A. Sheffield, Jr.; nieces, Brielle Sheffield and Nyla Sheffield; extended family, Baqiah Anderson-Daymond (former wife) and Orenza Merritt; and a host of caring aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
