Obituary

Jeanne Elaine Musgrove, a music lover, retired elementary school teacher, media center

secretary, and former television program manager, passed away on July 4, 2024, at the age of 64 after a tremendous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones and drifted away in her bed at sunrise. She embraced life to the highest level and shaped the minds of countless children to believe in themselves.

One of her most cherished roles was that of a mother. Jeanne's love for her three surviving children was boundless. She strived to give them the best opportunities, never backing down from life's challenges. Her high standards and commitment to excellence were evident in everything she did. She was known for her relentless spirit, spunk, kindness, and unwavering devotion as a wife and mother. Her love for her children was a guiding light in her life, and it was this love that fueled her relentless spirit and unwavering devotion.

Jeanne's passion for social justice was a driving force in her life. It was with her from her younger years, when she participated in walkouts and protests supporting desegregation, and throughout her career, when she faced discrimination when the need arose. Her determination and courage in the face of injustice were unwavering, and she was always ready to stand up for what she believed in.

Another of Jeanne's most significant accomplishments was being a teacher. Her love for reading led to coordinating and hosting library events, book fairs, Camp Read A-lot, and Snuggle Up and Road during her tenure at Essrig Elementary. She was awarded Teacher of the Year at B.C. Graham Elementary in 2013 and 2014 and was Student Action Committee President from 2018 to 2020. She filled the schools with love and laughter, bringing great joy with her upbeat personality among the staff and students. She also extended her hand to the community and was incredibly engaged with the PTA.

Before becoming a teacher, she was the program manager for WTTA from 1993 to 1998, where she was responsible for children's programming, bringing FOX Kids and WB Kids to Channel 38. She advocated for change in advertisement standards for children's protection. She completed her journalism degree at the University of Florida as a single mom and mentored young women in every profession. These women, in turn, became part of her family, and she became their second mother.

Jeanne was predeceased by; daughter, Jamie; sister, Antonia Tartaglione; parents, Robert "Bob" Tartaglione and Rozanne Tartaglione; and her husband, Jimmy Robert Musgrove, Jr. She is survived by; children, Autumn Roberts, Jimmy Musgrove III, and Samuel Musgrove; grandchildren, Alura Tartaglione, Sage Roberts, and Anastasia Roberts; sisters, Roslyn Tartaglione and Maureen Tartaglione; niece, Jacquelyn Tartaglione; and her nephew Robert Tartaglione.
