A Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mr. Jeremiah Haywood of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020 will be held at Orange Hill Cemetery, 4900 E Chelsea Ave., on Saturday, August 8th, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Timothy Lancaster, officiating. The interment will follow.
Jeremiah Haywood affectionately known as Jerry, 'Poppa Stoppa' and 'Dew' was a native of Tampa, FL and educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County, FL. He was a longtime union member of the Longshoreman Organization, the Women's Club of Tampa and Time Customer Service. Jerry was a member of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Tampa, FL. You knew that you were in for a special treat when Uncle Dew was around. He was always taking photos of you and charging you for them. He was known for his famous quotes and a guarantee smile and laugh.
Jerry was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeremiah Haywood II 'Baby Boy', his mother and father, David and Lula Haywood, his sisters, Kaye Haywood and Helen Haywood Hawkins, his brothers Paul and Kenneth Haywood all of Tampa.
Jeremiah leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Lonnie Wilson, Lawrence Wilson and fianc Tomica and Calvin Wilson and children, daughter, Michelle Stallworth and children, brothers David Muhammad & wife Rasheeda of Union Springs, AL, John Haywood & wife Sharon, Ray Haywood & wife Jackie, sisters, Mary Bivens, Bettye Schier & husband Robert. Loving aunts, Faye Richardson, Mildred Staten all of Fernandina Beach, FL, Louise Haywood of Folkston, GA and Maurice Haywood of Baltimore MD. Many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. A host of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Special friends: Billy & Shirley Bryant of Atlanta GA, Geraldine Askew, Rachel King, Dolly Grayson, Ruby Powell, The McDonald Family, Lewis & Joyce Colbert, John Belluccia, Willie & Carol Matthews, Randall Millerner, Chef Paul & Kim Lewis, Chef Bobby Brown, Martha Williams, Reggie 'Bubba' Allen, William Brown, Clovis & Martha Neal, Ms. JoAnn and Ms. Evelyn of The Women's Club.
A private family visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Thursday, August 6th from 3:00- 5:00 p.m. The family and friends will meet at the graveside on Saturday for the service. We are following CDC guidelines.
