Jeremy James,
Sr.
October 13, 1977 – October 13, 2025
Today we celebrate the life of a man who lived those words every day, Mr. Jeremy James, Sr. Born October 13, 1977, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and raised in Norway, South Carolina, Jeremy was the beloved son of Mary Bell James and Leon Pough, Sr. From his youth, he carried humility, discipline, and an unwavering faith in God. He graduated from Hunter-Kinard-Tyler High School, Class of 1995, and continued his education at Columbia University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Jeremy proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he dedicated many honorable years and later retired as a Computer Engineer. His service not only shaped his leadership and strength; it deepened his calling to serve others with integrity and pride. For 28 beautiful years, Jeremy was united in love with his devoted wife, Chiquita. Together, they built a strong foundation of family, faith, and joy.
"The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively."
Jeremy was known for his warm smile, his sense of humor, and his ability to make everyone feel seen and supported. Whether he was cooking breakfast every morning, riding through the neighborhood on his golf cart listening to his favorite music, or helping anyone who needed him, he poured love into everything he did. His passion for technology, his loyalty to his friends and fraternity brothers, and his faith in God were at the core of who he was. He lived the creed of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. "Friendship is Essential to the Soul."
On October 13, 2025, his 48th birthday, Jeremy completed his earthly assignment and returned peacefully to his Heavenly Father. Though he is no longer with us physically, the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the faith he lived continue to shine through those he touched. "Well done, thy good and faithful servant." Jeremy leaves to cherish his legacy: his loving wife, Chiquita; his children, Jazmine, Mikalah, and Jeremy, Jr.; his grandson, Logan; his fraternal twin brother, Jermaine James; his brothers, Dr. Kenneth James and Leon Pough, Jr.; and a large circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, fraternity brothers, and friends who will forever feel the blessing of his love. His journey continues in glory, and his spirit will remain with us always.
