Homegoing service for Mr. Jerome Flowers of Tampa who passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014, will be held on Saturday, June 14th, 3:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Major C. Jones II, officiating. Interment will follow. Jerome was born March 26, 1944 in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He resided in Tampa, Florida for many years, where he attended First Baptist Church of College Hill Church. He graduated from Middleton Senior High School, where he enjoyed playing basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Flowers, Sr., and mother, Doretha Shedrick; step-father, Eddie Shedrick, Sr., brothers, Charles, Jr. and Ira Flowers and niece, Kimberly Berry. He leaves to cherish fond memories of him with his children, Valerie Flowers and Terrianna Flowers; grandchildren, Anton, Nicole and Tyron Flowers; great grandchild, Akeela Lucas; brothers, Eddie Shedrick, Jr., and Willie Flowers (Lisa); sisters, Elvetta Jones and Patricia Williams-Flowers; brother-in-law, Rev. Major C. Jones II; nieces, Angela Jones (Brian), Neysa Jones (Mike), Robin Flowers, Samantha Flowers, Sophia Adkins, Synovia Williams and Victoria Blue-Flowers; nephews, Adrian Flowers (Sharon), Ira Flowers, Jr. (Felicia), Johnathan Jones (Marlise), Calvin Blue, Maurice and Xavier Flowers; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, friends from Progress Village, 29th Street, J.L. Young Apartments, Medical staff at DaVita, St. Joseph's Hospital and Kindred Hospital. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, June 13th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
