Obituary

Homegoing celebration for Mr. Jesse Lee Turner of Tampa who passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 will be held Saturday, November 9th at 11:00 a.m., Mt. Moriah P.B. Church, 1225 N Nebraska Ave with Pastor B.R. Fulton, Jr., officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Jessie Lee Turner was affectionately known as "Nuddy" and was born March 14, 1946 in Dooly County, Georgia to Mamie Williams and David Turner, Sr. He accepted Christ into his life at an early age and continued to receive his blessing daily. He received his education at Howard W. Blake High School in Tampa, Florida and graduated with the class of 1965. Jesse met the love of his life, his "Queen" Catherine Cannon in Chicago, Illinois they united in holy matrimony in 1980 and to this union two children were born. Jesse was employed with the Coca Cola Company and The Tampa Tribune for many years before retiring in 2006. Jesse was a member of the K-9 Dog Pound Club. He loved his grandchildren, country western movies, good music, wrestling, attending his grandson's football games and his cars. He was very caring, loving and generous to everyone. He will be remembered for his huge heart and especially for the love he had for his family. Jesse was a member of Mt. Moriah P.B. ChurchJesse was preceded in death by his father David Turner, Sr. and his sister Mary Turner Sampson. Jesse leaves to cherish his memories with a loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Catherine Turner; children, Dreana and Jesse A. Turner; grandchildren; Ranecia and Ralph Pettus III, Jayliah and Jakari Turner and Ja'Shaun Williams; a loving mother, Mamie Ballard; brothers, David Turner, Jr. (Luvenia) and Charlie Turner (Deloris);aunts, Slyvia Williams, Mollie Williams and Velma Petterson; uncle, George Turner; nieces; Crystal Sampson, Tara Turner and Andrea Turner; nephews, Leroy Sampson III, Jason Turner and Marcus Turner; 6 sisters-in-law; 5 brothers-in-law; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, November 8th, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
