Homegoing celebration for Deacon Jesse James Williams Lowrey who passed away December 29, 2014, will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th Street, Rev. Dr. Evan Burrows, pastor officiating. The interment will be Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. Jesse was born December 7, 1939 in Luverne, Alabama to the late M.C. Lowery and Earlean Long. Jesse was a soldier for Christ, a bowler and a great husband, dad and granddad. He was preceded in death by sisters, Sally Roper and Nita Lowery and brothers, W.C. Lowery and Glen Lowery. He leaves to cherish his memories with wife, LaDonna Mitchell Lowrey; children, Veronica Staley, Vernard Staley, Stacy Mitchell, Vivian Lowrey, Jesse K. Lowrey and Alandrea (Ally) Lowrey; grandchildren, Shynita, Shyqueta, Eugene, Brieanna, Brianna, Shakeira, Kiara, Sayvion, Olivia and Jayden; great grandchildren, William, DeShaunte, Keontae, Emoii, Jy'Asia, Jaydn and LeRon; sisters, Omie Staley, Olean Dawson and Eva (Percy) Hubbard; sisters-in-law, Annetta Watson, Sandra (Kevin), Hannah of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Brenda (Milton) Bowles of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, William (Rutha) Mitchell, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a host of others relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of College Hill, Friday, January 9th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
