Homegoing service for Mrs. Jessie Lee McKinney of Tampa who passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd, 10:00 a.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Dr. Mozella Mitchell, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Jessie Lee McKinney was born September 2, 1913 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late John Cox and Mattie Larkins Cox. She attended the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a pioneer resident of Progress Village for more than 50 years. She was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai A.M.E Zion Church for 80 years where she served as a Deaconess and trustee. Recently, she attended Love of Christ A.M.E Zion Tabernacle. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. McKinney and children, Horace and Otha. She leaves to cherish her memories with her children; Jacqueline M. Preston, Rose Mary McKinney Amiel (deceased); Carl Richard McKinney and Ronald James Mckinney; grandchildren, Susan McKinney, Kathy McKinney Frank (Barron), Natalie Preston-Washington (Jeffrey), Monica, Monique, Krystal and Dominque McKinney, Nichole Amiel, Randy Williams and Derrick Serward; great grandchildren, Whitney Mckinney, Barriane Franks, Zaria and Zoey Cromartie, Ayden and Adrian Wilcox, Quinton Mckinney, Luke Preston Washington; niece, Louise Randall, great niece, Synthia Walton; great nephew, Kevin Randall; special friends, Odessa Roberts, Veola Williams; and a host of sorrowing friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Monday, July 1st, from 4-7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at chapel on Tuesday, for the service.
