Mrs. Jewel Lynette Gooden-Liburd was born on December 16, 1959, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Robert C. Gooden Sr. and Hazel G. Gooden. She was raised in a loving family and educated in the Hillsborough County Public School system, graduating from Hillsborough High School. Determined to pursue higher education, Jewel attended Florida A&M University, where she proudly earned her bachelor's degree.

Jewel dedicated her career to serving children as a teacher with Hillsborough County Public Schools. She was passionate about education and poured her heart into every classroom she entered, touching the lives of countless students throughout her years of service. Outside of her professional life, Jewel was known for her vibrant spirit and warm personality. She enjoyed traveling and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Jewel's loving, funny, and devoted nature made her a treasured presence to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert C. Gooden, Sr., and Hazel G. Gooden; brothers, Robert C. Gooden, Jr. and Reginald G. Robinson; and daughter, Marissa Townsend; uncles, Daniel Horne and Herstree Grant.

She leaves cherished and fond memories to her husband, Patrick Liburd, Sr.; sons, Malachi Gooden-Liburd and Patrick Liburd, Jr.; daughter,  Melissa Gooden-Mitchell (Zuri, Sr.);  grandchildren,  Jalaya Brewington, Joshua Brewington, Elise Daniels, Emory Daniels, and  Zachary Mitchell; brother, Rasheed Muhammad; sisters,  Karla Gooden, Melanie Gooden, and LoriAnn Gooden;  aunts, Rose Gainey (Dennis), and Annette Bowers (Don Drummond); sister-in-law, Mychell Robinson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jewel leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication. Her memory will remain forever in the hearts of her family, friends, former students, and all who were blessed to share in her life.
