Obituary

Mr. Jimmie Lee Jackson, Sr., a beloved family patriarch and respected community member, was born April 12, 1942, in Eufaula, Alabama to the late John Jackson and Rosie Stanford-Jackson. He moved to Tampa, Florida in the early 1960s, a place he would call home for the remainder of his life. It was there, that he established himself as a dedicated father figure, and became a pillar of the community, touching the lives of many with his selfless, wise, and loving demeanor. For over five decades, Jimmie worked in the citrus industry as a crew leader. His strong work ethic and leadership skills were recognized and appreciated by all who worked alongside him. His commitment to his work was matched only by his commitment to his family, whom he cherished above all else. His interests were as humble and grounded as he was. A lover of the outdoors, he could often be found fishing or playing a friendly game of dominoes or cards with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by: beloved wife, Oease Farrior Jackson; brothers, John Jackson, Jr., Johnny Jackson, Robert Jackson, and Willie Jackson; sister, Annie McCrea.

Jimmie's legacy of love and cherished memories lives on through his surviving family; children, Curtis Jackson (Cheryl), Beverly Young (Tony), Jimmy Jackson Jr., and Brittany Jackson-Marquis. His role as a grandfather to Fedell Jackson (Jihan), Porchea Jackson, Keshayla Young-Roque (Alex), and Christopher Marquis; as a great-grandfather to Journee Jackson, and Marlee Jackson, brought him immeasurable pride and happiness. Jimmie is also survived by; sisters, Mamie Dennis of Eufaula, AL, Bernice McFadden, and Dorothy Graddy; and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.
