Obituary

It was at the dawn of day, Sis. Joan C. Horace heard the Masters call. God gave His approval and summoned Joan into eternal rest. Joan was born December 8, 1954, to the late Mr. Lester and Mrs. Essie Bell Lloyd (Stowers). She was the youngest daughter of eleven children, six of which preceded her in death: Mellissa Jenkins, Gerald L. Reed, Sr., Nathan A. Cash, James L. Cash, Sr., Lernita E. Stowers, and Joseph L. Stowers. Joan attended the public schools of Jacksonville, FL, and was a member of Greater Payne Chapel AMEC. Joan moved to Tampa, FL. in 2010 joining her twin sister at St. Paul AMEC, under the leadership of Rev. Bryan Fayson where she served on Usher Board #2. Later, Joan became a member of Mt. Olive AMEC where she served as benevolent chairperson of the Benevolent Committee, checking on the welfare of the sick and shut-in for the Gonzalez-Johnson Stewardess Board of Mt. Olive AMEC. Joan loved to cook and had a heart for cats of all kinds. Joan will be remembered by the words of this song: "I don't possess houses or land, fine clothes or jewelry, sorrows and cares of this old world my lot seems to be. But I have Christ, He paid the price way back on Calvary, and Christ is all, Hes all and all this world to me."

Sis. Joan Catherine Horace leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Lloyd Bernard Tilllman, Jr. and Steadman Henry Williams (Jacksonville); granddaughters, Kanisha Snodey, Abrinna Robinson, Lanyah Tillman, and Tellecia Tillman; grandsons, DeShawn Ross, Lloyd Tillman III, Ashton, Jordan Tillman and Braxton Williams; brother, Lester H. Stowers (Shirley); sisters, Vernita L. Stowers, Gwendolyn F. Washington (Jacksonville), Rev. Jean V.S. Davis (twin sister); aunt, Evangelist Shirley Armstrong; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special acknowledgment goes out to Sis. Brenda Lindsay and Deaconess Katrine Harris for their dedication of friendship and devoted love they showed toward our sister during her time of need. Her life and legacy will forever be remembered and cherished by those she loved and those that loved her.
