A Homegoing Celebration for Mother Joann Atkins who passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021, will be held on Saturday February 13th, at 11:00 a.m., at Exciting Faith Alive Church, 5705 E. 32nd Ave. Tampa, Florida, 33619, Sr. Pastor Antonio Hawkins with Pastor Phillip Jenkins of Glory Bible Fellowship Ministry Church, officiating.
Mrs. Joann Atkins was born on June 10, 1954 to the late William Atkins and Minnie McNeal Johnson in Jasper, Florida. She attended public school. She was a long-time resident of Tampa, Florida. She was a loving person who loved to laugh, cook, and spend time with her family. She had four children and was also the mother of 2 more children. She was a faithful Church Mother and the head of the Hospitality Ministry at her church, Glory Bible Fellowship Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Atkins and Minnie McNeal Johnson; stepfather, Ray Johnson; grandson, Reggie Harper, and sister, Annette McNeal House.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her loving children, Leroy Brown (Sara), Kenyatta Watson, Christ Sanders (Tawanda), Kesha Dozier, Kella Dozier, and Gary Walker; grandchildren, Christina Flemming (James), Crystal Sanders, Antonio Taylor, Erica Walker, Justin Carswell, Reniya Harper, India Harper, Kaliyah Sanders, Miracle Jones, Gregory Hill, Christ Leon Sanders, Jr., Takeila Holder, Ty'yteeanna Jones, great-grandchildren, Lashawn Gorden, Chris Sanders, Jaydah and Ja'nylah Flanning, Antonia Taylor, and Yasmier Fowler; sisters, Diane McNeal, Carolyn McNeal (Remy), Gwen Johnson (Tony), and Jacqueline Monge (Anthony), brothers, James Battle, Charles McNeal, Tony Johnson, and Derrick Johnson; niece, Shenale Jelks; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins; brother-in-law, Napoleon House; god-daughter, Kenqana Johnson; best friend, Ophelia Best; her church family, Pastor Phillip and Angela Jenkins; and Glory Bible Fellowship Ministry Church.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, February 12th from 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
