Obituary

A celebration of life for Joanna Doyle Hunter who passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2010, will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 2504 East Chipco Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33605. Reverend Dr. Bartholomew Banks, Sr. will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610. Joanna was born February 12, 1945, in Tampa, FL to Dezell and Reverend John Doyle, Sr. She was educated in the Hillsborough County School System. Joanna was a 1962 honors graduate from Middleton Sr. High School. She continued her education by earning an Associate of Arts degree from Gibbs Jr. College in St. Petersburg, Florida. Joanna retired from General Telephone Company as a supervisor in 1994 after twenty-eight years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dezell and Reverend John Doyle, Sr.; brother, Barna Doyle; and sister, Etheline Jackson. Joanna leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and faithful husband of nearly 37 years, Phillip Hunter; beloved daughter, Monica Hunter Spencer (Ali); adoring granddaughter, Malani Spencer; sisters, Barbara Ann Franklin, Ruth Brantley, Naomi Jones, Priscilla Watson all of Tampa, FL; brothers, John Doyle, Jr. (Marlene) of Tacoma, WA, Jairus Doyle, Titus Doyle, Justus Doyle all of Tampa, FL; aunts, Locester Richardson of Thonotosassa, FL; Mary Lee McMillan, Clara James, both of Tampa, FL; Narcissus Campbell of Trenton, NJ; and a host of other sorrowing family and friends. The viewing will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 East Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Tampa, FL 33610. The family will receive friends at 7:00 p.m. Friends and family are asked to assemble at St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church at 10:45 a.m.
