Homegoing services for Mr. Joe Lewis Blackmon of 1207 E. Giddens Avenue who departed this life on October 29, 2010, will be held Saturday, November 6th, 11:00 a.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Xavier L. Johnson, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Joe was born on September 22, 1947 in Morgan, Georgia to Robert Lee Blackmon and Bessie Wynn Blackmon. Joe was a Carpenter by trade and a chef at heart. His parents Robert and Bessie Blackmon, two sisters, Beatrice McAllister and Annie Grace Wilson, four brothers, Robert Blackmon, Jr., Richard Blackmon, Leonard Blackmon and Douglas Blackmon all preceded him in death. He leaves his devoted wife of forty-three years, Kizzie Mae Blackmon, Tampa; six children, Lasonya Blackmon, Suitland, MD, Joe (Sharon) Blackmon, New Orleans, LA, Richetta (Jay) Blackmon, Kenan Blackmon, all of St. Petersburg, FL, Kern Blackmon and Audrey Blackmon, both of Tampa, FL; Ten grandchildren, Bake S., Suitland, MD, Desirea S., Asha S., and Brandon F., all of St. Petersburg, FL, Jadae B., Madison, FL, Jaeden C., Kierston, C., and Zoe G., all of St. Petersburg, FL and Dylan B. Suiteland, MD; aunt, Honey Williams of Ft. Gaines, GA, four sisters, Thelma Robinson, Melbourne, FL, Jeanette Walker of St. Petersburg, FL, Lenora McDuffie, Jacksonville, FL, and Juanita Blackmon, St. Petersburg, FL; Five brothers-in-law, Wyatt Guido Garcia Wilburn, Miami, FL, Jimmie Wilburn, Safety Harbor, J.L. Wilburn, Tampa, FL, Eddie Wilburn, Clearwater, FL and Willie Wilburn, Safety Harbor, FL; 4 sisters-in-law, Mary Blackmon, Cocoa, FL, Rose Bud Blackmon and Eloise Blackmon, all of Cocoa, FL and Gladys (Charlie) Pitts, Orlando, FL; and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends who will miss him. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, November 5th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The family asked the friends to meet at the chapel at 10:45 a.m. for the service on Saturday.
