Mr. Joe Cecil Johnson was born on March 3, 1958, in Americus, Georgia to the late Lewis L.B. and Hazel N. Johnson. He was raised on a family-owned farm with 285 acres; there he learned the meaning of hard work. He attended the local schools of Hillsborough County. He was a gifted musician who played the piano and guitar by ear; if you named a melody, he could play it.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; uncles, Henry Lee Johnson, Ed Newsome, Lee Otis Newsome, Bud Newsome, and Olan Dean Newsome; aunts, Rosetta Johnson Carter, Fannie Whitehead, Henrietta Brown, Queenie Mae Johnson, Annie Lee Newsome, Mary Johnson, and Eddie Mae Newsome. Joe was known for his kind heart and gentle spirit,

Joe will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be forever missed by sister, Juanita Simmons (Bennie) of Sacramento, CA.; brothers, John Hudson (June), Bobby Johnson (Linda), Louie Courvoisier (Linda), Charles Johnson (Felecia), Tommy Johnson of Philadelphia, PA., and Leroy Johnson.
