Obituary

John David Burney was born December 25, 1935 to the late John and Isolina Jones Burney and was a longtime resident of Tampa, Florida. He was a Longshoreman, International Longshoreman's Association, #1759 for many years before retiring. He enjoyed playing dominoes with his friends and playing the Florida Lottery. John was also a member of the Masons since 1972, Lodge No. 150. He leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted and loving wife, Ophelia Burney; step-children, Audrey Farrow, Ezekel Farrow and Howard Roundtree; daughters-in-law, Julia L. Anderson, Dorothy Farrow and Zelline W. Roundtree; grandchildren, LaToya and Rene Farrow, Shamika and Michael Roundtree, Korra Graham, Christena and Anttonnett Roundtree, Rico White and Vernon Lee Simmon; great grandchildren, Trevion and Tarrance Roundtree, Lavina, Tony and Alayha White and 7 other great grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Sessler; sisters, Ernestine Thompson and Claudie Walker; great nieces, Rhonda, Bridgette and Ashley Jackson, Alicia Williams, Pam Burney and Rosline Walker; great nephews, Demetrious "Knott" Jenkins, Milton Jenkins, Isaac Freeman, Pete McIntyre, Willie Jackson (Pete), Cedric Robinson, Michael and Cukie Walker; friends, Barbara and Betty Odom, Alfonso Sampson, Leroy Harden, Larry Coleman, Rassul Hassan, U.S. Lane, Leroy Kirkland, Vickey and Tessie Gunta, Jerry Finnie, Calvin Mack, Wardell Norman, James Freeman, James Harold, Sr., Lola Mae Hassele, Larry Hemmingway, Herman Williams, Tall-Man, Wallace McDonald, Harry Thomas; and a host of brothers from the International Longshoreman's Association, Local #1759; and if anyone was omitted please forgive us.
