July 19, 1953 – January 19, 2017
The visitation for Mr. John Alexander Carr of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 will be held Monday, January 23rd, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Minister Von Brookins, officiating. The interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, Florida. John was a native Floridian, he attended Hillsborough County Public Schools, and graduated from Leto Senior High School. Shortly thereafter he joined the US Navy, after his enlistment was over, he returned home, and attended Hillsborough Community College. He worked several jobs during his younger years, in his later years he was employed by James A. Haley VA Hospital, where he worked faithfully for 12 years in food and nutrition as a dietary aide. He retired after his health began to decline and on December 4th, he went through the steps of salvation and accepted Christ as his personal Savior. John was the life of the party, and could make you laugh at all the stories he had to tell. He loved his family dearly, and will be missed by all who came in contact with him. He is survived by his daughter, Kamika Hopson; 4 granddaughters, Anjelica Cromartie, Gabriella Carr, Bria McNeal and Julissa Zaccanti; great-granddaughters, Sa'Bree Castile; 3 sisters, Kimberly Carr (preceded him in death), Sharon Carr and Cordelia Brookins; 10 brothers, Curley Day (Margie), Louis Burgess, Darryl Brookins (Andretta), Levonia Brookins, Vernon Brookins (Angela), Calvin Ford, Carl, Vincent, Maurice and Torrie Carr; aunts, Dorothy Banks and Glynda Cadore; with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, the Randolph's and the Smith's and a wide range of friends; devoted and cherished companion, Viola Davis; including friends, Freddie McNeal and Beverly Hill. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel for the final farewell.
