John Douglas, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully at his residence, in Tampa, at the age of 79. He was born on December 13, 1944, in Lakeland; John grew to be a man of deep passion and commitment, touching the lives of many with his kind-hearted and spirited nature.
A lifelong enthusiast of the written word, John found great joy in reading, a hobby that allowed him to explore worlds beyond his own. The tranquility of fishing provided him with reflective moments, connecting him to nature's beauty, while his dedication to Bible study and evangelizing spoke volumes of his faith-filled life. John's love for sports was only matched by his zeal for sharing the Good News, a testament to his boundless energy and desire to bring joy to others.
John's legacy is one of unwavering love and commitment to his beliefs. His ability to convey his passions, whether through a riveting sports debate or a heartfelt Bible discussion, was unmatched. His presence was a source of comfort and inspiration, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Douglas, mother, Esther Douglas, first wife, Loretta Douglas; sister, Ann Lee, and daughter, Tasha King; brothers, Allen Douglas Jr., and Andrew "Bubba" Douglas.
He is survived by wife, Sharon Bostick-Douglas; son, John Carl Douglas; brothers-in-law, Robert Lee, James Thompson, Daniel Colleton, Sr., George Colleton, Jerome Bostick (Linda), Joseph Bostick (Gwendolyn); grandchildren, Brandon, Dyson, Zaila Douglas, Corenthius Jacobs, Anthony Rimini, Lexus Toliver, Mar'kia Rimini; aunt, Flora Lathan; nieces, Stacy Savage, Melanie and Katrina Colleton; nephews, Darryl and Gregory Thompson, Dan Colleton, Jr. and Robbie Lee, along with a host of family and friends.
