Homegoing services for Mr. John Elvin Jones, Sr. of Tampa who passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 will be held Saturday, April 4th, 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, 4025 W. Palmetto Street, Rev. A.W. Greene, pastor officiating. The interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. John was born June 30, 1941 in High Springs, Florida. He really enjoyed his position with TECO for 26 years and loved gardening. John was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Mae Jones and son, Darryn Keith Jones. He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife, Ruth Ann Jones; children, Tammy Charease Brown, John E. Jones, Jr. and Shermeka Herns; grandchildren, Jamaya DeRon, Joneisha K. and Darren ReShard Jones; father, Harry Jones (Jessie M. Weaver); brother, Robert Lee Jones, Sr., of Tampa, FL.; sister, Martha J. Staten, Lutz, FL; aunt, Mary E. White, Tampa, FL.; nieces, Sheria Jones, Atlanta, GA. and Valencia Williams.; nephews, Kenny Jones, Jacksonville, FL and Robert L. Jones, Jr.; cousins, Jearldin Hodges (Edward), Texas and Ophelia Corbert; many other nieces, nephews and cousins.; 6 sisters-in-law, Carol Smith, Virginia Price, Barbara Thomas (Joe), Linda Hill, Reba Lester and Annie Ruth Hill, all of Vienna, GA and Kathy Dixon (Frankie), Cordele, GA; 2 brothers-in-law, Earl "Ricky" Hill (Christina), Detroit, MI and Randall Hill, Vienna, GA; friends, Rubin Alexander, Eric Patterson, and Earl Hill. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, April 3rd, from 5-8 p.m. The friends and family are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
