February 3, 1943 – March 26, 2017
A homegoing celebration for Mr. John Gauldin, Jr. affectionately known as 'Big John' of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017 will be held Saturday, April 1st, 2:00 p.m. at International Harvest Church of God, 5512 N. 47th Street, Bishop Francis Maxwell, pastor officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. John was born February 3, 1943 in Tampa, Florida. Early in life John married, Daisy Mae Gauldin of Griffin, Georgia and to that union 5 children were raised. He attended International Harvest Church of God and loved to ride motorcycles, farming, eating fish, and volunteering. John was a dedicated employee with Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery since 1978, and was called the The Gate Keeper' by his son Jeff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bishop John Gauldin, Sr. (Breather) and Eddie Mae Johnson, son, Alfonzo Stewart and niece, Carlene A. Williams. He leaves to cherish his precious memories with his former companion, Cledie M. Johnson, St. Petersburg FL., his children; John E. Stewart (Margette), Chattanooga, TN, Harry B. Gauldin, Sr., Chattanooga, TN, Jeffrey A. Gauldin, Sr. (Lasonja), Griffin, GA, Christopher L. Gauldin, Sr., Chattanooga, TN, Angela D. Johnson, Jacksonville, FL, Timothy T. Carter, Tampa, FL and Marcus A. Carter, Tampa, FL; Demetrius, Devinci and Marquicz Carter, whom he raised as his children; 28 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren ; sisters, Elizabeth Gauldin and Patricia O. Williams; uncle, Robert Rogers, Tampa, FL; a host of cousins; special friends, Andre Dunbar, Jim McKeehan (Vivian), Jay McKeehan, co-workers of Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery and International Harvest Church family. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, March 31st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
