Homegoing services for Mr. John W. Prather of Tampa, who passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014, will be held on Saturday, September 13th, 11:00 a.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Rev. Sirrnest T. Webster, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, Palmetto, Florida, officiating. John W. Prather was born on August 1, 1934 in Colquitt, Georgia. He enjoyed playing dominos, riding his bike, watching western movies and going to the dog track. He was preceded in death by his mother, Florene Mitchell; father, James Prather; stepfather, Isaiah Mitchell; brothers, Alfonzo Mitchell, Willie C. Mitchell, KC Mitchell and Milton Mitchell; sisters, Mary D. Tomberlin and Mattie Gay. He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife of 24 years, Cynthia S. Prather; children, Cynthia E. Prather, Anita Prather (John), Carol Green (Resha), Timothy Prather, Joseph Stuckman and Freddie Smith; grandchildren, Treale Prather, Nikita Johnson, Devaris Johnson, Ja'nae Canady, J'Lyne Canady, Justice Stuckman, Jasmine Stuckman, Deantae Hall Stuckman, Derricka Hicks, Dekemiah Hicks, Derrick Hicks, Jaquan, Ecru Richardson and James Watkins; great grandchildren, Azariah, Q'Various, Jakeriya, Janiya, Jerimane, Jordan, Jerrante, Harmony, J'Carrian, A'millia, Ar'monie, Steven III and Ja'Quez; brothers, Joe Nathan Mitchell; sisters, Aretha Miles (Jessie), Dorothy Wright (Esters), Havannah Green (Arthur), Elizabeth Prather, New York; uncle, Robert Marion, nieces, Dorothy Jean, Louise, Tanji, VaVonda, Tammy, Trenda, Victoria, Shaunta, Shlacka, Anjett and Michelle Saffor; nephews, Olen, Isaiah, Jessie, Wesley, Esthers, Jason, Terrance and Charles; sisters-in-law, Magaglene Stuckman (Mike), Carrie Mitchell, Marcy Lee Mitchell and Sharon Stephens (Edward); brother-in-law, Willie Ford; special friends, David McGee, Eddie Brunson and Freeman Vincent and Odell; and a host of cousins, other relative and friends. The visitation will be held on Friday, September 12th, at Aikens Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
