Homegoing services for Mr. John W. Prather of Tampa, who passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014, will be held on Saturday, September 13th, 11:00 a.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Rev. Sirrnest T. Webster, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, Palmetto, Florida, officiating. John W. Prather was born on August 1, 1934 in Colquitt, Georgia. He enjoyed playing dominos, riding his bike, watching western movies and going to the dog track. He was preceded in death by his mother, Florene Mitchell; father, James Prather; stepfather, Isaiah Mitchell; brothers, Alfonzo Mitchell, Willie C. Mitchell, KC Mitchell and Milton Mitchell; sisters, Mary D. Tomberlin and Mattie Gay. He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife of 24 years, Cynthia S. Prather; children, Cynthia E. The visitation will be held on Friday, September 12th, at Aikens Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
