Homegoing services for Mr. Johnathan T. Jones of Tampa who passed on Friday, January 23, 2015, will be held on Saturday, January 31st, 2:00 p.m. at St. James AME Church, 5202 S. 86th Street, Rev. Michael Price, pastor officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Johnathan T. Jones was born on August 15, 1963 in Tampa Florida to Major and Elvetta Jones. He graduated from Brandon High School in 1982, after graduation Johnathan continued to work a full time job. He has always been a resident of Tampa, Florida. His love for God lead him to attended several churches with family and friends. To his family, Johnathan was known for his love of life, his beautiful smile and his piercing dimples. Johnathan loved his family and always encouraged his kids to go to church, get good grades, be respectful and always do their best. The attention that he gave to each of them was as if they were his only child. He was also a dedicated and dependable father, grandfather, son, brother and husband who took pride in hard work, determination and punctuality. There was never a job to big or too small for Johnathan to jump to attention for the challenge. There was never a car beyond repair, a pipe to clogged, an electrical wire too dangerous, a roof to high, a lawn to large, a cabinet too heavy, or a job to demanding to stop him from accepting the challenge. Johnathan held several jobs at large corporations which included: Weyerhaeuser, Mosaic and Tampa Armature Works. During his adult life, Johnathan embarked on new exciting hobbies which included bowling, softball, and becoming a mason. Some of his favorite pass time was attending all of Damani's dance recitals and taking her shopping in the mall. He also enjoyed attending his grandkids cheer meets and football games, which his son Rodney coached and watching movies for hours. Johnathan transitioned to his new heavenly home where he joined his grandparents, Albert and Annie Jones, Eddie and Doretha Shedrick, uncles Frank, David and Mac Jones, Ira and Jerome Flowers a brother-in-law, Stanley Tolbert and grandson, Baby Anthony Hatcher Jr. He will be loving remembered and missed by his wife, Marlise Tolbert-Jones; children, Rodney (Shayla) Addison, DeShontia Jones, Denecia (Anthony) Jones, Johnathan Jones, Jr. and Damani Jones, Marquis (Glenda) Lee; parents, Major Jones Sr., Elvetta Jones and step-mother, Genetta Jones; siblings, Angela (Brian) Malcom, Neysa (Michael) Jones, Pastor Major (LaToya) Jones, Shante' (Marcus) Lowe and Shane' Jones; mother and father-in-law, Rudolph and Lillian Tolbert; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie Tolbert, Rudolph (Donna) Tolbert, Reginald Tolbert, Debrah Tolbert-Burt (John), Darryl (Temeka)Tolbert; aunts and uncles, Myrtis Thurman, Catherine Stevens, Willie Neiley, Sadie Douglas, Annie Ray, Patricia Williams-Flowers, Willie (Lisa) Flowers, Eddie Shedrick Jr. Frances W. Pascoe, Robert (Ruby) Williams; grandchildren, Radeja Addison, Rodney Addison Jr, Rashaad Addison, Martae Lee, Mari'ale Lee, Marquis Lee, Jr., Gregory Mckall Reginald Jennings; in addition he leaves to cherish his memory dear and loving cousins Elijah Anderson, Norman Black and Michael Pascoe; a dear friend, Ernest Nelson and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, January 30th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday.
