Mrs. Johnnie Mae was born in Tampa, Florida, November 16, 1923, to Ms. Evalina Snow. She has one brother, David (Beatrice) Snow and one sister, Maggie Snow (deceased). While cooking was her joy, she also enjoyed entertaining and lived life to the fullest. She had zeal to change the traditional way of doing things and thought "outside" of the box. She was well regarded as one of the first African American women business owners in Newark NJ, where she owned a tavern and dance club. Later in life, she relocated to sunny Florida, where she became a landlord. She was a faithful church member at Jesus Saves through Faith church. Johnnie Mae loved the Lord and was a mother in the church who freely expressed her opinion. As a former entrepreneur, she knew how to handle money and even in her advanced years was able to live on her own. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Johnnie leaves to cherish her memories two daughters Sandra and Sharon Adams of Tampa, FL.; grandchildren Albert Wilson Jr., Lillian Wilson Lima and Nina Wilson Brown of Tampa, Darren (Hattie) Adams of Orlando, FL; Monroe (Tina) Adams III of Hillsborough, NJ; Arthur Adams Jr., Cornelius Adams and Yvette Adams of Baltimore, MD; Marjorie Adams and John Mentor Adams of Houston TX; and a host of great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews and a special friend, Ms. Mattie Brinson.
