A Graveside Celebration for Mr. Johnnie William Murray, Jr. "Johnny Moten" of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021 will be held on Saturday, July 24th, 10:00 a.m. at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Ave.
Johnnie William Murray, Jr. was born May 1, 1954 in Tampa, Florida to the late Johnnie William Murray and Willie Mae Moten and stepfather, Sylvester Moten. He graduated from Middleton High School then attended Brewster Technical School and received a certification as a Welder. Johnnie loved cutting hair and playing basketball. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Willie Mae Moten and Sylvester Moten; sisters, Aileane Cooper and Joyce Poole; brother, Andrew Jackson; uncle, Lee Ellis Green; nephew, Milo Cooper; great-niece, Lekenya Cooper and cousin, Cornelius Williams "Ricky". He leaves to cherish his precious memories with his children, Jamarcus Lucas, Johnny Miller, Jamarcus, Brandy Buie and Cedric Buie; grandchildren, Marquis Porter, Marquis Buie, Malik Buie, Brandon Buie, Jordan Murray and Alize Buie; great-grandson, Marciel Porter; brother, George Earl Watkins, Jr. (Wanda); aunt, Elousie Sweet; nieces, Synthia Moten (Michael), Charlene Moten, Carlene Pearson, Yolanda Robinson, Evora Cooper-Clare (Calbert), Selina Jackson and Nicole Campbell (Redgie); nephews, Kieve McCloud (wife), Rodney Moten (Tiana), Darren Moten (Yolanda), Zeron Hall (Karen), Kenneth Cooper, Timothy Jackson (Susan) and Mare Jackson; grandnieces, Charkeena McKinnie, Terikeena Williams, Joyce Moten, Sabrina, Zekevia Hall, Carlysia Levert, Cyndee Butler, Milan Robinson, Bianca Cooper, Verdell Cooper and Kike Cooper; grandnephews, Marlon Moten, Darren Moten, Jr., Zeron Moten, Elias Kimber and Mario Nobles; a host of great-grands and cousin, Paulette and Michelle Green and family; a host of other family and friends; the Moten family would like to thank 29th Street and Lake Avenue Community and everyone that made this burial a success.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home Friday, July 23rd from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the graveside on Saturday for the service.
