Johnny
Harrington
Jan 16, 1962 — Sep 29, 2026
Johnny Lee Harrington, affectionately known as “Pip,” was born on January 16, 1962. Pip was more than just a man—he was a hero. With no regrets, he served our country and his family with honor and decency. He was well known throughout the community as the man who could do just about anything, from home repairs to small-engine maintenance. Pip will be deeply missed, but the love, laughter, and memories he shared will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Pip loved his family and friends deeply. He had a passion for working outdoors, whether he was cutting lawns, roofing, or simply doing whatever he could to help someone else. Most of all, anyone who knew Pip knew how much he loved his scratch-off tickets. He was preceded in death by his wife, Casonda Smith Harrington; father, Johnny Harrington; grandparents, Dave and Ethel Pemberton; brothers, Antwon Johnson, Willie Smith, Alphonso Johnson, Alvin Johnson and Keith Best; sisters, Celia Grier, Gretchen Johnson, and Angelina Johnson; his aunts, Leona Woodard and Ruthie Bass; nephew, Edward Fipps Jr. Left to cherish his memory are his loving mother, Dorothy P. Smith; sisters, Cookie Fipps, Anita Johnson Howell, Leticia Stokes and Keisha Best; son, James Purse; stepchildren, Charles Harvey, Shantey Steven, Tiana Stevens, Reginald Stevens and Kanethia; step-grandchildren, Lily, Aaron, Jeremiah, Jayda, Zion and Grace; grandmother, Lady Wilson; uncle, Albert Fipps; nieces, Dash, Toyia, Shenita, Torneisha and Latoria; nephews, Shelton, Shermal, Bobby and Rashaud; cousins, Ivory (Sherral), Robin, Regina, Sabrina, Albert Jr., Eric, Earnest, James and Freddie; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended cousins, extended family members and close friends: Aaron Bullock, Marvin Jug, Michael Williams, Michael Brookins, Allen Brookins, Avis (Minnie Me), and Tommy Madox, along with many others whose lives were touched by his friendship, generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand
