Funeral Services for Mr. Johnny Whaley who passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011, will be held on Saturday, May 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Progressive M.B. Church, 2504 E. Chipco, Tampa, Dr. Bartholomew Banks, pastor, officiating. Johnny Whaley was born January 17, 1959, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He graduated from Northeast High School and later joined the United States Army. He served proudly for 10 years. Upon discharge from the Army, he attended Tampa Technical Institute and graduated with an Associate Degree in Applied Science on October 4, 1991. He then pursued a career as the "BEST" barber in Hillsborough and Pinellas County. He was also affiliated and a proud member of the Veterans of Foreighn Wars, Post 10174. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Whaley; brothers, Robert Whaley, Gregory Bush, and Ricky Turner; sister, Betty Joyce Whaley; and uncle, James Dixon. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Linda Shelton Whaley; son, Jaelin Whaley; daughters, Stephanie (Marvin) Phillips, Christa Whaley, Aneatria Whaley, Whitney Niblack and Bretiyana Taylor; brothers, Steven (Heather) Whaley, Michael (Emily) Whaley; Tony (Cynthiz) Merrill, Bobby Whaley, and step-brother, Lee Anthony Boykins; sisters, Janice (Jonnie) Walker, Tammy Maher and Rhonda Whaley; grandchildren, Victoria, Brianna and Andrew Phillips; aunts, Ann Dixon and Ruby Turner, Martha Harris and Mary King (DW), Vienna, GA; mother-in-law, Mary Levette, sister-in-law, Tanya Jackson-Akbar and a host of other relatives and friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, May 13th from 5-8 p.m. Family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Family and Friends are asked to meet at the church at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday for the service.
