A Homegoing Celebration for our beloved husband and father Mr. Joseph L. Harris, 80, a native of Tampa FL who passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 will be held on Thursday, June 23rd, 12:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Rev. Michael Neely, officiating. The interment will be in Florida National Cemetery. He spent most of his life in Tampa after serving as an officer in the United States Army. He graduated from Florida A&M University and the University of South Florida. He worked as a math teacher in the Hillsborough county school system and retired from Tampa General Hospital as EOE officer. Joe leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife, Mrs. Daiezell Harris, two children Howard and Robin Harris, 6 grandchildren Howard II, Christopher, Jasmin and Justin Harris, Adreauna Ratcliff and Hailey Harris, 3 great grandchildren, Eulalia, Imani and Joi Harris; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Taylor, father, Larry Harris, daughter Kimerly Harris, 4 brothers and 1 sister. The visitation will be held 1 hour before the service. The family request no flowers or gifts, but if you are so inclined please consider contributing to your favorite charity.
