Mass of the Resurrection for the repose of the soul of Mrs. Josephine T. Barton of Tampa, who passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 service will be held Saturday, January 30th, 11:00 a.m., at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1203 Nebraska Avenue, Tampa, Florida, Father Hugh Chikawe, pastor with Father Pierre Dorvil, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Josephine Barton was born and raised in Tampa and was a long time resident of Central Park Village (C.P.V) before moving to Belmont Height Estates. She faithfully attended St. Peter Claver Catholic Church and was educated through St. Peter Catholic School and the public schools of Hillsborough County. As a devout practitioner of her Catholic faith, she led the recitation of the Rosary at every Saturday Vigil Mass she attended. She was an affiliated board member of the Boys and Girls Club (C.P.V.) and was also a board member of the Lee Davis neighborhood Advisory Board, Saint Vincent De Paul Society II and the Ladies Guild of St. Peter Claver. Mrs. Josephine Barton was born March 11, 1929 to the late Robert Hawkins and Fannie McKeever. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Elder McKeever; sons, Herbert Graham, Jr., Alfonso Johnson and Alfred Barton, Jr., brother, Willie Miller, Jr., brother-in-law. Jody Washington and half-sister, Thelma Turner. She leaves to cherish her memories with a devoted daughter, Debra Jackson; son, Eddie Lee Gray, Jr.; step grandson, Milton Powell, Jr.; sister, Lelia Washington; half-sister, Dorothy Clark of New York, daughters-in-law, Geraldine Johnson and Carolyn Barton; grandchildren, Rhonda Johnson, Crickett (Twan), Reginald Johnson Mungin (Sunya), Alfred Barton III, Nee Nee Jackson, Kendra Jackson (Bruce) and Amanda Gray; great grandchildren, Maurice Spivey, Shaquondra Williams, Regishia, Regina and Reginald Johnson II, Davishia Robinson, Montrey Pride, Reginald (Bae Bae) Johnson III, Devin Goston, David Robinson, Kyanna Jackson, Derrion Telfair, Edniqua Daniels, Stevontae Tolbert, Rayquan Johnson, Christopher Masso, Janai, Johiquia and Johnny Johnson, Clariniesha Richardson, Jedric Daniels, Solace and Calvin Johnson; a host of great great grandchildren; nieces, Toneka Washington and Ingred Showers; nephews, Danyel Hancock (Nicole), Shawn Showers and Emam Miller; great nieces, Zaria Washington and Erianna Williams; great nephew, Malik Hancock; goddaughters, Valentine Hendrix and Jeanette Vinson; friends, Lillian Williams and family, Annie Bell Williams and family, Alice Wynn and family, Sheila Palmore and family, Ayesha, Dorothy "Ms. Dot", Sarah Walker, King Family; and a host of other family and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, January 29th from 5 to 8 p.m. The catholic wake service will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the service on Saturday.
