A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Joyce Ann Sykes of Plant City, FL who passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 will be held on Saturday, July 2nd, 11:00 a.m. at Allen Chapel AME Church, Plant City, FL 33563, Rev. Larry D. Keys, Sr. pastor, officiating. The interment will be in Garden of Peace in Plant City, Florida. Joyce attended Hillsborough County Public Schools and she graduated from George S. Middleton Senior High in the class of 1965. She received a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida and a Master degree from Nova Southeastern University. She dedicated her life to teaching for 38 years in the Hillsborough County School System. Joyce attended Greater Mount Carmel AME church in her younger years and after she married, she relocated to Plant City, FL where she joined and served as a stewardess and a faithful servant for the Lord at Allen Chapel AME Church until God called her home. She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin F. Bryant. Sr.; mother, Curtis Lee Bryant; step-son, Rodney Sykes; sisters, Lillian J. Evans and Gloria R. Mitchell and aunt, Christine Richardson. She leaves to cherish her memories with her husband, Leroy Sykes; children, Reginald Bryant, Jason L. Sykes (Dawn); step-children, Gabriel (Carol) and Donnivle Sykes; grandchildren, Kiri Holmes and Laya Sykes; great grandchild, Kyri Holmes; brother, Rev. Benjamin F. Bryant, Jr.; godsister, Mary Gilliard (Tom) and a host of other family members and friends. The visitation will be held at Allen Chapel AME Church on Friday, July 1st from 5 to 7 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
