A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. K. D. Tripp, Sr. of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Friday, September 6, 2019, will be held Saturday, September 21st, 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Progress Village, 8722 Progress Blvd., Dr. Sam Maxwell Senior Teaching Pastor with Todd Hammond, Executive Pastor, presiding. The interment will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. K.D. Tripp was born March 12, 1934 in Cottondale, Florida to the late Jake Tripp and Trussie Bellamy-Tripp. He attended school in Jackson County, Cottondale, Florida before moving to Tampa. He attended St. Matthew Baptist Church in Cottondale, Florida and accepted Christ at an early age. He was a truck driver and crane operator for Shulnberg Scrap Metal Company for over 62 years before retiring. He enjoyed being a mechanic, working on cars, trucks he also enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family. He married the late Lee M. Tripp in November 28, 1956. He was preceded in death by his son, K.D. Tripp, Jr.; siblings, Eddie L. Tripp, Robert Snell, Celec Tripp, Minnie L. Tripp and Retha Mae Tripp-Williams. He leaves to cherish his precious memories with his son, Elmo Garrett (Cynthia) of Greenwood, Florida; daughters, Laura Tripp and Barbara Tripp; grandchildren, Keisha Garrett of Greenwood, Florida, Tiffany Garrett of Greenwood, Florida, Lateefah Tripp, Marcellas Derr-Tripp, Gregory Tripp (LaMecha), Nicole Tripp (Malcom) all of Tampa, Florida, Ciera Collins (Billy) of Greenwood, Florida, Courtney Timmons of Jacksonville, Florida, Erica Tripp and Aisa Mosely, of Tampa Florida; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters, Agnes Gray (Sam), Minnie F. Tripp and Mary E. Johnson all of Cottondale, Florida; brother-in-law, Mizell Webb (Joyce) of Cottondale, Florida; a special thanks to Maydel's Alf;a host of nieces and nephews. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
