A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Kathryn Diane Washington of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 will be held on Thursday, March 4th, 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Pastor Tom Jones, officiating. Kathryn Diane Washington was born in Tampa, FL on September 22, 1955. Kathy, sometimes lovingly called 'Nuni' by her siblings and childhood friends, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Kathy is survived by her husband, Willie Bob Washington; her son, Stanley Khaliq Jones, Sr.; her grandson, Stanley Khaliq Jones, Jr.; her stepfather, Cal Gillins; her siblings, Carolyn Williams, Gloria Jean Bethel, Tracy Rolle, John Daway, Armando'Chanel' Daway; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Delores Gillins; her father, Leavie Joe Bradley, Sr.; her siblings, Leavie Joe Bradley, Jr. and Cynthia Bradley. Kathy graduated from the Job Corps program in New York in the late 1970s, after which she served in the United States Army. Upon settling back in Tampa, Kathy enjoyed a career in the hospitality industry, and then she worked as a senior-level Data Entry Clerk for the US Postal Service. Kathy was a woman of many talents, she enjoyed puzzles of all kinds, and could often be found completing a jigsaw or crossword over a cup of coffee. She was quick-witted and deeply loyal to those she loved and always kind to strangers. She was the favorite aunt of all of her nieces and nephews, and would often lend a soothing, non-judgmental ear to those who needed her. Her faith was rooted in a relationship with Christ and she was a walking example of grace and generosity. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Thursday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
