The Home going Celebration for Brother Kent Terrell Meeks who passed away on March 12, 2018, will be held on Saturday, March 17,2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Brown Memorial Church of God In Christ, 2313 E. 27th Avenue, Tampa, Florida, Bishop Matthew Williams, Eulogist with Elder Lonnie Jones, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Kent was born August 21, 1959 to SSgt. Kenneth Meeks (U.S. Air Force) and Rugenia 'Jean' Meeks. A lifelong native of Tampa, Florida, Kent graduated from C. Leon King High School. Kent had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned a landscaping and lawn service business for a number of years. Kent enjoyed being outdoors and interacting with family and friends. He was beloved by all and most known for his kind heart, charisma and humility. He was preceded in death by his father, SSgt. Kenneth Meeks (U.S. Air Force). Kent is survived by a loving and devoted mother, Rugenia 'Jean' Meeks; siblings, Bruce Meeks and Deborah McCullough (William); daughter, Shenequa Haynes (Tyrone); and devoted companion, Amethyst 'Mink' Thomas; uncle, Rev. Willie 'Baby Gray' Dixon (Maryse); aunt, Eloise 'Lois' Scott; grandchildren, Randolph Haynes and Robert Miller; nephews, Xavier McCullough (Jewel), William McCullough III (Jerquel), Coisge McCullough (Ashley), Keith Meeks, Joel Meeks, Bryce Meeks and Blake Meeks; special friends, Anthony Hampton, Dolphus 'Lee' Perry, Alveda Washington Dawkins, Eddie Lee McCullough and Gwendolyn Russ; and a host of cousins, other relatives and cherished friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, March 16th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
