A memorial celebration for L.J. 'James' McClendon of Tampa, Florida who passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 will be held Saturday, December 30th, 11:00 a.m. at Church of Christ at Southside, 6411 12th Ave. South, Min. Demetris Bryant, officiating. L.J. 'James' was born August 2, 1941 to the late Tom and Vera McClendon in Blakely, Georgia, he was the oldest of five children. He was baptized into Christ in 1985. L.J. was married to Ellease on June 20, 1986. To this union one daughter was born, Brenda Diana (Jewel) Webb. He was a long-distance trucker for 45 years but the work he loved most was serving as a minister for 10 years at the Church of Christ, Arboringdale. He loved children and always took time to talk and listen to them. He was a kind, loving and compassionate man. He leaves to cherish his precious memories with his loving wife, Ellease; 1 daughter, Brenda Diana (Jewel) Webb of South Carolina; 4 god-daughters, Lisa and Katrell McDuffy and Robin all of Tampa, FL, and Venessa U. Waits, Providence, Rhode Island; 9 grandchildren, Sekhu Donnie Gentle (Marquitta), Latosha Strong (Darryl), LaRhonda Davis, Lewis Davis, Sr. and Brandy Webb; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Inez Green of Tampa, FL; 2 brothers, LC (Buddy) McClendon of California and MC McClendon of Tampa, FL; 3 sisters-in-law, Evelyn Mobley of Boynton Beach, FL, Kathrin Giddens (Leonard) of Lexington, NC, and Sylvia Grice (James) of Tallahassee, FL; 3 brothers-in-law, William Knight, Sr. (Doris) of Rochester, NY, Willie Knight (Sarah) of Quincy, FL and Mark Moten (Jackie) of Havana, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and his favorite pet, Little boy Hooch and Lucky. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the memorial service.
