Homegoing Celebration for Master Sergeant Larry A. Davis who passed away, Tuesday March 5, 2013 will be held Saturday March 16th, at 3:00 p.m. Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Pastor Laura A. Hargrove of Speak Life Church Inc., officiating. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery. Larry A. Davis was born March 30, 1949 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late James and Thelma Davis. Larry served in the United States Air Force receiving numerous awards for his dedicated service including, AF Commendation Medal, AF Outstanding Unit award with four oak leaf clusters, AF Good Conduct Medal with six oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with one bronze star, Vietnam Service Medal with one silver and one bronze oak leaf cluster, AF Overseas Short Tour Ribbon with one oak leaf cluster, AF Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with one oak leaf cluster, AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon with five oak leaf clusters and Noncommissioned Officer Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon with one oak leaf cluster, he retired after 26 years of service. He was also an Engineer with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, where he medically retired after 15 years of service. Larry was a member of the American Legion Post #167, Presiding Comm., Carl Mott. He enjoyed music, traveling, playing card games, eating good food and desserts, and taking care of his dog Bentley Davis. He was preceded in death by parents, James and Thelma Davis and sister, Janice Cade. He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories with a loving wife, Twyonia Davis; children, DeWayne Lamar Davis and Craig Duval Davis, Columbia, SC, Electa Spears and Darelle Young, Ft. Myers, FL; 13 grandchildren, Aaliyah Davis, Craig Davis, Jr., Jacqueline Spencer, Victoria Spencer, Elijah Taylor, Dajah Ward, Ava Davis, Kiana Davis, DeWon Huggins, Kayla Davis, Madison Davis, Terrence Thornton and Kennedi Richardson; god-daughter, Jasmine Moore; brothers, James Davis, Jr., Chicago, IL, Albert Davis, Memphis, TN and Michael Cade, Chicago, IL; aunts, Gwendolyn Frazier, Memphis, TN, Myrtle Ross, Jacksonville, FL and Alice Bedell, South Holland, IL; uncles, Milton Wells, Edmonson, AR and Willie Davis, Detroit, MI; sisters-in-law, Tangela (Ricky) Rogers, Sudie (Doug) Gaymon, Teresa (Jimmy) Thornton and Jerica Hodge; brothers-in law, Thomas, Jr. (LeAnna) Evans, James Smith, Thayer (Rochelle) Evans, Tyrone Evans, Torrey Evans, , Thaxton Hodge and Morris (Marie) Hodge; special cousins, Ora Harper, Blenna Minor and Rosa Howard; special friends, Eunice Bembrey, Carl Mott, Jeffrey Nelson, Karen Church and Katherine Roberts; special thanks to his team of doctors. The viewing will be held Friday, March 15th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at chapel on Saturday for the service.
