A Homegoing Visitation for Mr. Larry J. Jakes. of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020, will be held on Thursday, April 30th, at 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Tampa, Florida, 33610. The interment will follow. Larry was born on June 24, 1951 in Bainbridge, Georgia. He was a talented mechanic and enjoyed fishing and sitting 'under the tree' during his free time. He was preceded in death by his father, Bartow Jakes; mother, Doretha Jakes (Simon); and grandson, Maurice Walton. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories with his loving and devoted wife, Phyliss E. Jakes; sons, Larry E. Jakes and Kevin L. Crowley; daughters, Carla L. Jakes and Michelle N. Exum; grandchildren, Sharaine L. Williams, Laraine L. Williams, Kelvin L. Williams (Sassy), Janie A. Jakes, Natavia E. Exum, Michael O. Exum, Tevin W. Walton (Brittaney); brothers, Walter Jakes and Robert Jakes; sister, Rose Mary Bristol Jakes; nieces, Marcia Bristol, Jennifer Murray, Natasha Bristol, and Tasha Jakes; and a host of other nieces and nephews; and The Wolf Pack Crew. The family will receive friends during the visitation.
