Lawrence, affectionately nicknamed, "Dixon", was born on October 28, 1939, in Pensacola, Florida, to the late Elijah James and Johnnie Mae Dixon.

Lawrence was self-employed and owned his own trucking company for 25 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved attending church at New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he was a Senior Deacon. He loved singing; his favorite gospel song was "Your Grace and Mercy." Also, he loved doing lawn work.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Belle Dixon; son, Shawn Terry Dixon, Sr.; grandchildren, Tyrone Williams, Iris Dawson, and Eddie Sessions; parents, Elijah James and Johnnie Mae Dixon; sisters, Viola Dixon Hope and Virgil Dixon Smith; and brothers Vance Dixon, Walter Dixon, and Elijah Dixon.

He leaves precious memories with his companion, Gloria Williams; children, Jusio Dawson, Rosemary Dixon, Lawrence Dixon Jr. (Altecia), Aaron Dixon, Myra Desseau (Kareem), Francen Whyte, Endy Fairley, and Cassie Clarkson; grandchildren, Desmond, Ursula, Shondra, Cornelius (Samantha), Ashley (Fatura), Areona, Lawrencia, Lilly, Rosa, Shawn Jr., Darian, Tavaris, Christopher, Ronnie, Tedrick, Jusio, Justice, Larissa, Ceddrick (Shaniah), Shaun, Donteye Jr., Kathy, Tocara, Lakavia, Nikosha, Freddie, Marcus, Marcus, Jr., Damani, Damariss, Carlos, Amari, Jordan, Carlos, Jr., Jayla, and Solonto; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Veter Dixon, Sr.; sister, Eloise Oliver; close friends, Renee Dixon, Michelle Sessions, Linda White Curtis, Bonnie Brown, Sheldon Denard, Cynthia Green, Ronald Washington, Deacon Bryant, Paul Moore, Algie Knight Baptist (Leon), Davis, Lillys, Joyners, and Sessions families; and a host of loving relatives, cousins, and friends.
