Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Lelia Mae Mathis of Tampa, FL who passed away Monday February 4, 2013 will be held Saturday February 16th, 2:00 p.m. at Paradise M.B. Church, 1112 E. Scott Street, Rev. Frank Williams, pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Lelia Mae Mathis was born on June 12, 1938 in Fairfax, Alabama, to the late Frances Anderson and the late Mr. James McCants. At the age of 8 she relocated to Tampa, Florida, where she was educated in the Hillsborough County school system. She was an employee of TB and Tampa General Hospital for many years. During her time of retirement she enjoyed fishing, sewing and reading. Lelia joined Paradise Missionary Baptist Church in 2001 and was a faithful member until her time of disablement. Lelia was preceded in death by 1 brother, Calvin McCants; 2 uncles, Benjamin Howell and Clyde Dozier and 1 aunt, Laura Bell Howell. She leaves to mourn her passing 2 daughters, Wanda Johnson and Valerie McCants; 4grandchildren, Thomas Daniels, Jr., (Atlanta), Dante Singleton, Sr. and wife, LaShonda, Rante Singleton, Sr. and Dietrich Singleton; 12 great grandchildren, Dante, Jr., Rante, Jr., Rantevia, Regine, Jasmine, Ayanna, Asia, Jerson, Dasia, Azarya and Jenna Singleton and Desmond Williams; great great grandchild, Naurice Robertson; 3 sisters, Genell Williams, Flora Bell Brown and Maxine McCants all of Tampa, FL; sister-in-law, Lula McCants; nieces, Tammy and Lisa McCants, Frances and Christine Williams, Doreen, DeDe and Tasha Brown, Tawanda Buchanan and Cherise Carr; nephews, Benjamin Williams, Delano and Andre McCants, Derrick Giles, Terry and Dario Wallace, Danny Goodwin, Anthony Knight, Larenzo Magwood and Torio Brown; and a host of cousins in Alabama and Chicago and other sorrowing relatives and devoted friends; Special Thanks to Ray Austin, Brenda Austin and Raylynda Austin; Annie Palmer, Iris Bird, Clevetta McHenry, Ruth Dewberry, Gregory Belmer, Maria Cortez (Pro Med Health), Amy Marques (Advance Apollo Healthcare) Jackie Martin and staff of nurse on call. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home, Friday, February 15, 2013 from 5 to 8 pm. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
