Homegoing services for Mr. Leon Hayes, Jr. of Tampa, who passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012, will be held on Saturday, February 4th, 2:00 p.m. at Northside Missionary Baptist Church, 5706 N. 40th Street, with Rev. Ricardo Robinson, pastor officiating with Rev. Ray Johnson, Jr., pastor of The Church of God-The Bible Way, Lakeland, Florida eulogist. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Cemetery. Leon Hayes was born on January 2, 1950 in Minter, Alabama to the late Mr. Leon, Sr., and Louise Hayes. He attended schools in Alabama and graduated in 1968 from Tipton High School. He then moved to Tampa, Florida and was employed by Florida Steel as a supervisor for 26 years and retired in 1996. He also worked as a supervisor for Vertalite and One Nation Technology. He met and married the love of his life, Mrs. Patricia Coonce-Hayes in 1975. They raised a loving and devoted daughter, Natasha Coonce. Loving memories will be cherished by his wife, Patricia, daughter, Natasha and fiancAC.e, Gerald; grandchildren, Dominique Teed and Tia Settles; great granddaughter, Sha' Myia Brown; loving mother-in-law, Rosa Lee Sails; father-in-law, Josh Coonce and wife, Lessie; sister-in-law, Joyce Williams and husband, Ron; brothers-in-law, Reginald Coonce and wife, Bridgett, Eddie Williams and wife, Regina, Mark Williams, Tim Williams and wife Lesia, Jeffrey Coonce and Jim Felton and wife Catherine; loving aunts, Rosie Mae Reeves, Stella Junius, Louise Franklin and Asleen Griffin; loving uncles, Edward Johnson, Sr. and wife, Lillie Mae, John Moultrie, Sr. and wife, Shirley, Gilbert Blackman, Oliver Blackman and Willie Bell Adams; special family members, Wallace Peasant, James Davis (Sonny), Michael Coonce, Roderick Coonce and wife, Sylvia, Carla L. Coonce-Levy and husband, Jack; god-daughter, Elaine Sails; and a host of other sorrowing aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, and friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, February 3rd from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
