Leona was born on May 2, 1932, in New Orleans, Louisiana., to Edward and Julia Thompson.

She loved traveling, cooking, going to church, singing in the choir, and being a member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by father, Edward Thompson; mother, Julia Thompson; brother, Lee Edward Thompson; son Dwayne White; daughter, Gelinda Dawson; grandsons, Dwayne Martin, and Trevor Dawson; nieces, Wanda, and Debra Thompson.

She leaves precious memories with her daughter, Brenda Thompson, and son-in-law, Melvin Dawson; grandchildren, Quaver White, Zatoya Thompson, Jarvis Dawson, Zenise McDuffie, Dwayne White II, and Trevon White; great-grandchildren, Zarian McElveen, Shaquille McElveen, Jase Parker, Dwayne White III, and Zhayne Taylor; nieces Sharon, Semetra, and Sandra Thompson.
