Obituary

A celebration of life for Bro. Leroy William Harris, Sr. "Sam", who God found it best to call home, from labor to reward on Sunday, December 4, 2011 will be held on Saturday, December10th, at 12 p.m. at New Progress Missionary Baptist Church, 3707 E. Shadowlawn Avenue, Rev. E.J. Williams, pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Bro. Leroy was born on September 14, 1942 in Tampa, FL. He attended school in Hillsborough County. Leroy worked at Singleton Seafood as a supervisor for 35 years in the sanitation department. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of New Progress M.B. Church, where he served faithfully as a chairman of trustee for many years until his health failed him. He was preceded in death by: his father, Arthur Harris, mother, Thelma Cobb Harris and sister, Mary Alice Humphrey. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life: his wife of 42 years, Sherry Salters Harris; sons, Leroy Williams Harris, Jr. (Soana) of Hawaii, Freddie Mulkey, Jr. Tampa, FL, and Ron Christopher Harris (Nobuko) of Hawaii; daughters, Tonya Harris and Deborah Sneed both of Tampa, FL; goddaughters, La Tasha Nikki Bell (Eddie) and Luvenia Turner (Darryl); grandchildren, Benjamin, Natasha, Reva, Leroy III, Pheonicia, Lakesha, Breonna, Sakuara, Brandon, Seiya, Shevaun and Brandon; great grandchildren, Kiana, Malia, Isaiah all of Australia; brothers, Jerome Harris (Yvonne), Tampa, FL and Willie Thomas (Patricia), Houston Texas; sisters, Leola Lewis (Roy), Betty Lowe, Claretha Harris and Willie Mae Thomas all of Tampa FL; uncles, Luther Ware (Inez) Palmetto, FL and Johnny Cooper, Atlanta, GA; aunt, Ruthie Mae Harris; father-in-law, Lotis Salters of Leesburg, FL; sisters-in-law, Elouise Barnes, Lawanda Salters Rawls and Marguerite Washington; brothers-in-law, Horace Salters, Eddie Lee Salters and Jerry Salters; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends too many to name and The Home Association staff of Tampa, FL. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, December 9, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-7p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the service.
