Homegoing services for Mr. Leroy Smith, Sr. of Tampa, who passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012, will be held on Saturday, February 4th, 2:00 p.m. at Friendly Missionary Baptist Church, 1901 Central Avenue, with Rev. Johnnie Miller, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery. Mr. Leroy Smith was born July 4, 1921 in Tampa, Florida. He attended Hillsborough County Schools. Leroy served 3 years in the armed forces and retired from the City of Tampa after 20 years. He worked for Childlow Bakery for many years. Leroy was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Holloman; sister, Laverna Oliver; sons, Patrick Smith and Forrest Gilmore and daughter, Patricia Small. He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories wife, Maxine Smith; children, Anthony and wife, Sharon, Kenneth Smith, Marvin Smith, Christopher Smith, Mary Archie and husband, Henry, Jacqueline Gilmore and Billy, Leroy Smith, Jr., of New York; 28 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; niece, Theolanda Smith; nephew, Theodore Smith and wife, Linda; friend, Charles Gant and a host of other relatives and friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday, February 4, 2012.
