Homegoing services for Mr. LeRoy Bell, Sr. "Mr. Roy" of Tampa who passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012 will be held on Saturday, May 19th, 11:00 am at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Pastor Dale Williams, eulogist, with Rev. Elsie Powell, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. LeRoy Bell Sr. was born in Tampa, Florida on December 30, 1928 to Astor Sr. and Leola Bell. Growing up, he attended the public schools of Hillsborough County and attended Greater Mt. Carmel A.M.E church with his family. LeRoy moved to Rochester, NY in 1959. He worked for 22 years as a construction laborer for Local Union 435. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and he purchased and remodeled houses which he used as rental properties. After retiring from construction in 1985, LeRoy purchased Roy's Central Market in 1986, where he was affectionately known by all as, "Mr. Roy." In 1964, LeRoy met his life partner, Elouise Williams. They were married on September 26, 2010. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Elouise Bell; two sons: LeRoy Bell, Jr. and Michael Bell; three daughters: Rosemary and Nora Bell and Jody (Troy) Stegall; 11 grandchildren: Lloyd Bell, Steven McCall, Sonia (Curtis) Baker, LeRoy, Candice and Jada Bell, Tyshon Jones, Nefetari Ivey, Monica (Dontrell) Wright, Troy (Tosha) and Jody Stegall; brothers, Samuel (Clara) and Rudolph Bell; sisters: Verdell (Ernest)Rodgers and Maxine Edwards; cousins: Robert Creal, Sr., Fred Walker, Florence Williams, Joseph (Betty) Bell, Jr., Rev. Elise (Winston) Powell, Ethel (Ervin) Ward, Brian (Alwyn) Bell and Nadine Felder; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. The viewing will be held Friday at Aikens Funeral Home from 5 to 8 pm. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel at 10:45 a.m. for the service on Saturday.
