Mr. Leroy Wilson, Jr. (55) was born on January 10, 1971, to the parentage of Leroy Wilson, Sr. and Janet Wilson Smith in Tampa, Florida. He transitioned to his eternal rest on January 14, 2026, at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Mr. Wilson was a native Tampan who attended public schools in the School District of Hillsborough County. He graduated in the C. Leon King High School Class of 1989. After graduating from high school, Leroy became a productive member of society through his work ethics.
He was gainfully employed throughout his adult lifetime. He worked for several years as a professional (CDL) truck driver at Bay City Sand, Pepin Distributing Company, and HD Supply (acquisitioned by Home Depot). In recognition of his dedication, leadership and superb work ethics and performance, HD Supply honored him several times by recognizing him as Employee of the Month and celebrated him in grand style at the Tampa Marriott Water Street in Downtown Tampa when he was named Employee of the Year honoring his exceptional truck driving record and his commitment to safety.
Leroy was a fiercely devoted family man who valued and loved his family dearly, especially his beautiful children, mother and brother. They were so proud of him and loved him for being a supportive, caring father, son and brother. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed barbecuing and cooking for family gatherings.
He was an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan who enjoyed attending Tampa Bay Buccaneer football games at Raymond James Stadium and watching NFL football games on his big screen television. At an early age, Leroy was baptized and became a member of Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida. He was a spiritual person who believed in, loved and trusted God throughout his lifetime, even while spending his last days at Tampa General Hospital. His mother Janet, witnessed him opening his eyes and thanking God for getting him through his last surgical procedure.
Mr. Leroy Wilson, Jr. was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Black, Lillie Mae Black and Rosalie Wilson; aunt, Darlene Black Paulk and son Eric Norton, Sr.
He leaves to cherish precious and fond memories with his children, Tiana Bruce (Maurice), Ymani Wilson, Synovia Wynn (Devin), Zion Norton and Rychard Hanshaw; grandchildren, Maurvion Bruce, Lyrik Wynn, Eric Norton, Jr., Zy'quai Wynn and Mireya Bruce; parents, Leroy Wilson, Sr. and Janet Wilson Smith; brother, Marice Wilson, Sr.; mothers of his children, Marshana Mayo and Colleen Murphy; aunts, Elouise Tarver, Joyce Henry (Sonny), Mary Smart, Denise Bradford, Kay Crum, Twila Lowman and Tampa Fire Chief Barbara Tripp; uncles, Clayton Black and Greg Black; nephews, Marice Meko Wilson, Jr. and King Wilson; special cousins, Navarro, Herbert, Jermaine, Selina, Tameka, Marcus, Marquis, Carissa, Nathena, Iyeshia, Gregory, Erica, Asia, Corey, Carlos, Jovita, Gary, Rose, Reba, Vantanna, Jamaal, Zambria and Anthony; best friends, Derrick Toombs, Willie Williams, Lawrence Marshall, Jr., Pete Dunbar and Cene Marshall and a host of other relatives, co-workers, and friends.
