A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Lesedeus "Black Boy" McDermott of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021, will be held on Saturday, October 16th, 1:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Rev. Michael Neely, officiating. The interment will be held in Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Lesedeus McDermott was born in Ocho Rios, Jamaica on April 22, 1940 to the late Samuel McDermott and Beatrice Elsada Brown. He was known to everyone as Black Boy. In 1968, Black Boy moved to Florida and worked many years as a Laborer and in the 70s his career began in the Construction Industry until 1996. Black Boy loved his family and loved his daily gathering of his friends for dominoes. He was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for everyone. On December 23, 2000, he would marry the love of his life, Barbara. Black Boy has left a huge imprint on the Jamaican community and his passing has left a void in so many lives. He leaves to cherish those fond memories with his lovely Wife, Mrs. Barbara D. McDermott; (2) Daughters, Mrs. Shanda (Melvin) Mackey and Ms. Wanda Stubbs; (4) Grandchildren, Shanice Williams, Stephan Stubbs, Malik Mackey and Milan Mackey; (2) Great Grandchildren, Nasir Scott and Cairo Pyron. Special close friends who are more like family, Johnnie Mae (Red) Campbell, Ophelia (Roach) Robinson, Terrance Jackson, and all the domino gang.

The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 15th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
